i was listening to superhuman last night
before i went to sleep
and i realised WHY
no matter how hard i try
i cant hate him
i cant stay angry at him
he's the one who taught me what
love REALLY is
he gave it meaning
and depth
he changed me
he showed me what it could be
if i overcame my fears
of letting someone else
see all my broken parts
he loved me for me
he saw the scars and bruises
and he didnt run away
he stayed
tried to help me put the pieces back together
he saw that i was always trying to figure people out
but that i never wanted anyone to figure me out
the first guy
he cared but he didnt understand
the second
well he was too wrapped up in his own problems
to care about mine
but he
he never made my problems seem smaller than they were
and he understood me
we didnt realise what we had till it was gone
until it was too late to take back all the angry words
too late to go back
we let it go to waste
and it is our fault
for what its worth
he changed my whole life
cause now i truly know what i want
i want a love like that
to last all the days of my life
and
well
if i cant find anyone who can love me the way you did
i can always teach them how
the way you taught me
cause i know
i'll never settle for any less than that
